How we follow COVID-19 Protocol?

At Love N’ Learn we strive to ensure the health and safety of our children, families and staff. We believe in caring for each other, only then we can stop the spread of COVID-19. Our Centre has been open since August 2020 and we have not had any cases of COVID-19. To manage the risk of spreading illness within the childcare centre, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and York Public Health Unit we are taking extreme measures on health and safety requirements such as cleaning/sanitation protocols and personal health care practices including frequent hand washing and requires daily active screening of all individuals arriving at the childcare centre. Here’s what a typical day would look like at Love N’ Learn during the pandemic:

AM Screening:: - Families are encouraged to screen their children before coming. Upon arrival, families from the parking lot and our screening staff will ask the screening questions. Once all questions are negative, the family member can be the child to the front lobby where the staff will take the child’s temperature. If the thermometer reads a normal body temp (below 37.6), the child can Centre the childcare. Sorry we are not accepting any families beyond this point, only staff and essential visitors.
Toy Washing and Sanitization:: - All high touched surfaces are sanitized twice daily. Front doors and screening materials (thermometer) are sanitized after each use. Toys and classrooms are washed and sanitized twice daily, mouthed toys are taken away immediately and placed in a bin labeled “mouthed toy” to be sanitized. Cots are sanitized after each use and blankets are packed away in children’s personal bags in their cubbies for next day use. This presents to spread of any germs that can linger.
Physical distancing:: - Classrooms are spacious and equipped to promote physical distancing between children. Tables, individual art bins and sensory are labeled with children’s pictures and names.
PM Screening:: - Upon arrival in the parking lot, parents call letting us know they have arrived. Our screening staff then gets the child ready, test their temperature and informs the families to come to the front door where they can receive their child. We find this method highly effective; it eliminates crowded entrances and long waiting period.
